Congratulations and felicidades to Emmanuel Lubezki, nominated for Best Achievement in Cinematography for the stunning, breathtaking visuals in Terrence Malick’s cinematic masterpiece "The Tree of Life." This Mexican cinematographer is no stranger to the Oscars, as this is his fifth Oscar nomination, having worked with some big name directors such as the Coen Brothers, Michael Mann, Tim Burton, and Martin Scorsese. Emmanuel Lubezki, also known as "El Chivo," is best known as a frequent collaborator on most of Mexican director, Alfonso Cuaron’s films, including “Y tu mama tambien” and “Children of Men."

NBC’s “Rock Center with Brian Williams” recently aired a full report revealing Mitt Romney’s roots south of the border. Mitt Romney’s father, former Michigan governor George Romney was born in a Mormon colony in the Mexican state Chihuaha. His ancestors fled the United States to avoid prosecution concerning anti-polygamy laws. Then, during the Mexican Revolution, George Romney’s father's family fled Mexico to the United States where Mitt Romney was born years later.

Wait, so does that make the GOP candidate, presidential hopeful, is half-Mexican? Oh the posibilities. This means he could actually apply for dual citizeship, and if he chose to, hold public office. Fortunately for Mexico, since Romney’s not a natural-born citizen, he wouldn’t be able to run for Presidente. Romney still has relatives living in the Mormon colonies of Colonia Juarez and Colonia Dublan, but doesn’t acknowledge them or even visited them.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney’s campaign holds a stance against immigration reform, despite the fact that his family were once immigrants themselves, Maybe the Democrats should ask Romney for his long form birth certificate…

Se hizo un trabajo de investigación con niños y niñas mexicanos/as, replicando el experimento con niños/as y muñecos diseñado por Kenneth y Mammie Clark en los años treinta en EUA, que se ha llevado a cabo en varios países del mundo.

Aquí se muestra parte de los resultados y los niños y las niñas que aparecen en este video reflejan las respuestas de la mayoría de niños/as que fueron entrevistados/as.

Dada la complejidad de la temática, se realizó un Taller de Racismo con los/as niños/as y que participaron y sus familias, para generar un espacio de reflexión y contención de las emociones generadas en este intercambio.

You might think that a present from a successful literature mentee, in this case, a book, might be the best gift an English professor might receive. And make no mistake about it, this is one hell of a book, one hell of a gift!

But it is the success of the literature student that is the best gift of all. Despite all odds, in a mercenary, anti-intellectual age, and at a university not generally known for its literati, one finds the most amazing students.
