What are you doing Monday, May 18, 2009? You are going to be getting down to the San Diego's Banker's Hill neighborhood for a night of sinema and canned suds! The Tin Can (with SDSU Lit alum Kelsey Breunig) has conspired with Hyperbole Books, an imprint of San Diego State University Press, to host yours truly and Orange County superstar Gustavo Arellano for a festival of Tex[t]-Mextian/ Ask a Mexican horrors on May 18, 2009, Monday, 7pm.

We will be watering our horses at the Tin Can Ale House (myspace) for a screening (screaming?) of Tom Gries' 100 Rifles and as much suds as you deem wise! Here's Roger Ebert panning the outrageous flick--Burt Reynolds as a Yaqui "Indian"! Afro-Mex love! Raquel Welch ...  We're there! We're there!

Below? Arellano, on the Colbert Report, and, por supuesto, the screaming, steaming trailer from 100 Rifles:
