Homeboy Industries Needs Your Help!
Carlos Avila, Chicano film maestro extraordinaire, writes in with this cool appeal:
From: Carlos Avila
Date: Fri, 14 May 2010 12:04:11 EDT
Subject: Homeboy Industries
Dear Friends:I don't know if you saw today's L.A. Times article about
Father Greg Boyle and HOMEBOY INDUSTRIES... But they are struggling financially to stay afloat (hit the image opposite).
Consider making a small donation to this great organization. On the Homeboy website they have their VIRTUAL CAR WASH fundraising effort... If you're so inclined to make a small donation please do so... Here's the link. You can make a donation and watch
the short video that explains what they do at...
http://www.homeboy-industries.org/virtualcarwash.htm
Thanks for considering this... Help the homeboys and
homegirls!
Carlos

Henry Jaglom on Orson Welles in the LA Times Magazine
As I am teaching Touch of Evil next week, Monday, October 13, 2008 in my Naked Mirrors, Fractured Souls Literature and Film seminar, I thought I would provide this facsimile of a moving piece from this Sunday's LA Times Magazine by Henry Jaglom on his friend Orson Welles. It's a valuable piece of biography for fans and scholars (and students, hi!) alike.
